Break is over, now for voluuuuume!

Iv hardly played at all since Brighton, im certain its been a good decision though because iv been completely unmotivated and not in the right mindframe to play at all and the times i did, i was kind of on autopilot and not playing anyway near my best. So its been a week or so off, with a lot of takeaways, movies, ps3 and sleeeep! I woke up today in a really good mood, and iv been itching to play all day which is definatley a great sign so im going to be puttin in as much volume as i can over the next few weeks before GUKPT Walsall.

I also decided to give some money to charity today, i felt like doing something good with my money. So iv given £500 to the RSPCA and the NSPCC. Iv never given to charity before, and it feels good to know its gone to some great causes and i think ill do it again in the future for sure!

Ill be playing all tonight and alllll Sunday so ill have something to report after Sunday hopefully after some success!

One tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime :)

Crazy Week with Strippers, £15k in cash, hardly any sleep (oh and GUKPT Brighton report)

Finally drove back to Manchester last night after probably one of the most eventful and random weeks of my whole life. It does feel good to be home but i had a hell of a lot of fun and id do it all again in a second! Last post i mentioned Perrins had made day two of the £200 side event, obv he ships it for around £7k after getting a pretty good chop 5 handed, played really well, ean quite well but definatly deserves this after running wayyyyyyy below expection in 2008.

So this was a sick start to the week and we go to the cashier and get 7k in cash and a bottle of £200 champagne, the hotel is not far enough to get a taxi so we end up having to walk through Brighton with 7k in cash in our pockets...lol fun! Back at the hotel, me Sarah and Matt start celebrating and its a Tuesday night so theres not much going on, so after some champagne and shots we ask the taxi driver where we can go, he says theres the PussyCat Club 5mins away, lol so what the hell Sarah doesnt mind infact she likes the idea... happy days :) £3000 later (I KNOW WTFFFFFF) and a lot of champagne, sambuca and lapdances for all we crash back at the hotel to prepare for the Main Event the next day.

Ok so on to poker, me and Matt both play day 1A and the field is terrible besides some really good internet players about its mainly live donks, play started at 2pm and i don't really get involved in any big pots for the first few hours, but manage to chip up a little, isolating the bad limpers and some late raises, then i double up Ian Frasier with JJ vs AKss he flops a flush so im basically dead on the flop and down to 7k. The play continues to be shocking and i manage to get back up to 13k with no showdowns over the next few levels. Its now about 11pm and theres 2 levels left till play stops and i stilll have around 11k its sucks to say this but i literally did go card dead and moved to a not much but slightly tougher table. Blinds now 400/800/50 and i pick up AJss in the hijack with 9k and get it in and run into AK and it holds, sigh.

I go see how Matts doin and obv hes crushing again with top 5 in chips lol and he cruises into day2. We end up staying out all night partying and get about 2 hours sleep. He goes on to make the Final Table after playing really well again in Day2 i don't know how either, i was completely fucked that day and he must have been too. We had to change hotels during this too because we had to stay an extra day and it was fully booked. All of us were tired and pissed off so it was not fun trying to sort another hotel at 10am when its windy as fuck and the Final Table was later that day.

Me and Sarah go to watch and i have 30% again so obv im very interested lol with 1st 70k plus change. Matt goes into the Final Table 5/9 and gets a really shit seat with the big stacks to his left and the short/medium ones to his right. I get interviewed by nutz.tv too during the final table which was pretty cool, i thought it went quite well even though i was little nervous. Anyway he doesnt play a hand for the first level and has blinded down to 170k at 6k/12k/1k. Then is his KO hand which we have gone though a lot and here is the hand and my thoughts on it...

Matt ~ 170k

Villain ~ 600k

Blinds ~ 6k/12k/1k

8 handed with average chips of around 260k

folds around to Matt with 66 on the cutoff, he makes it 30k to go, villain chipleader at the time 3bets to 60k..

villain has been fairly loose and not that great, later goes on to showdown k3off and k4off defending his bb

Matt has quite an aggressive image

So my thoughts are that open shoving is probably the best line with 14bb in this spot, as played i don't think he can fold, calling obv not an option but i really hate raise folding here with 14bb. villain is the chipleader and could easily be 3betting a wide range, also with the prizepool being quite top heavy i get it in playing for the win. But i do still think its a really close spot with it being live and the players so much tighter than online, hand values do go way down when playing live imo. For example, you raise the button with AJss and an 16bb stack reshoves, online its a snapppppppp your arm off call, but against some players live its an instafold.

So back to the hand Matt does get it in and runs into KK vnfjhvnmgkv, still a good win of £7k again but i can see why hes really dissapointed as i would be too. I suppose anything but 1st is always going to be dissapointing.

This post has just turned into an essay so im gonna go to the gym i think. All in all it has been an awesome week, we did end up well up but spent a stupid amount on shopping and nice restaurants and obv strippers lol... will be playing online a bunch in the next few weeks and ill do some more updates when i can.

GUKPT Event #1 AK is the nuts!

Me and Perrins played the £200 freezeout last night i ended up busting in around 34th of 140, i ran 73ss into AK, Q3ss into AK and 68off into AK and none of them held wtf lol i did have genuine reasons for getting it all in each time. I was playing super aggressive once a strong player to my direct left busted as the prizepool was pretty top heavy i know if i got some chips together it would have been an awesome opportunity to do well. The field in general was insanely weak with the odd pro and internet player here and there, luckily Matt made it to day 2 with around 25 players left and about average chips, so hes got a decent chance and i have 30% of his action lol so glglglgl!!

Day 2 starts in around 2 hours and then theres a £300 double chance tonight at 8pm, undecided whether to play it or not, might end up partying with Sarah and Matt instead if he gets like top 4 we will be for sure. Omaha £100 rebuy tommorow night... screw that, will have a look around Brighton instead might get a tattoo for the hell of it :) then Main Event on Thursday with some online inbetween probably.

Brightons a pretty nice place, seems to be quite a bit of money about, hopefully we will get to see some more before we go back, gonna go get breakfast now from this really nice place round the corner shipppp.

2009 + Big Wins + Longggg Update.

Ok so i haven't made a new post in what seems like forever, and there is a hell of a lot to update/talk about. My last post was when i won the 15k (now the 20k) twice in three days, in the following months i played heads up cash full and literally played hardly any mtt volume at all, it was a nice change tbh, and i believe it has greatly imroved my reading of the game. So during this time there wasnt a hell of a lot to blog about but i did do nicely profit wise winning around $20-25k, but it is a hell of a grind. So october/november time i decided to go for it with mtt again, whilst playing heads up on the side to boost the br. November turned out to be the worst month of online poker of my whole life, mtt that is, as cash went really well.. again.

Me and Matt "pez102" Perrins put in an insane amount of volume and it was a heart-breaking, soul crushing month, so many brutal KOs and near misses, it's the closest iv ever come to quitting. There were times where it felt like i couldnt take it anymore but i was saying to all my close friends etc that im playing the best poker of my life and that i really was just running crazily bad. I was very happy to see the back of November and im very glad i played cash on the side as it softened the blows somewhat. Negative Variance sucks!

However there was some positive things to come from that month, me and pez102 decided to play some major live tournaments, in the form of GUKPT Blackpool. We played the £300 side event and the £1,000 Main Event both had famous faces and live "pros". The standard in both events was absolutely shocking, managed to make day 2 in both events and got really unlucky in both, losing 3 big races and AK vs AQ aipf sighhh

Anyway onto Decemeber/January and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. So after being beaten down and completely detroyed in Nov, i somehow decided to come back and carry on grinding mtt along with headsup cash still. Again me and pez102 put in a lot of volume and finally all the hard work started paying off, the final tables started to roll in; 3rd in the 40k - $5,147, 4th in the 18k - $2,642, 5th in the 30k, $2,387 (losing AKss vs 98ss allin preflop for like 60% of the chips), 6th in the 40k - $2,016, and FINALLY my first FIVE FIGURE SCORE, shipped the turbo 40k for $11,613 woooooooooooooooop

ANDDDDDDDD it actually gets better after my biggest win ever in the 40k on boxing day on i managed an even bigger score.....

Now that feels GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!
So satisfying as i know iv been playing my best ever poker in the last few months and it hurt a lot to not get any reward for it. I don't remember much about the turbo 40k as it all happend so fast i just remember the guy heads up folding like 15 hands in a row and basically handing me the 11k. As for the 65k i actually ran insane on the last few tables, sooooooo deserved though after a brutal few months. The final table was probably my best ever final table display, especially 3 handed where i turned it round from short stack to shipping it.

Could not sleep allll that day and i remember being on a high for like 4 days lol it was immense.

Very exciting times at the moment and it inspired me to update this blog :)

Also GUKPT Brighton starts on the 12th and me and pez102 will be playing everything and ill keep updating here on how we're doing.
