shipaments

Ship the 15k gtd to Rochdale AGAIN! :)

Twice in three days for around 8kish, playing some sick poker at the moment! Ran really well at the final table which was v weak again, held AA v KQ K high flop with f/draw then won a race and all of a sudden had a big chip lead, used it to my advantage and completly dominated the table.. got to heads up which actually lasted a while with him allin a few times doubling up but finally managed to win it with Q10 10 of clubs on KQJ all clubs... against K8 hitting a Q on river had a ton of outs though.

Headsup cash is going really well too, i won all the tourny buy-ins i played today plus a bit of profit. Overall its been a goooooooood week!

At my girlfriend's mates at the moment and they want me to play Resident Evil lol so i gotta go... gl at the tablesssssssssss

I Love Poker.

Took the 15k gtd down tonight for $3825 :)
Wow this win feels sweet, i pretty much steamrolled my way from 20 players to first being chip leader the whole time, was fun! I got really lucky in one hand to knock out a short stack on the final table 66 v KK but other than that played really really well and nobody seriously threatened on a v weak final table. I knew i was playing pretty much my A game on Sunday and i was happy because the only reason i didnt do well was because of bad luck, and i thought a win was coming. Monday was pretty inexplicable, must just have been one of those days...

Its been a really good day, i managed to get Monday out of my head and continue my good form from Sunday. Headsup cash has been great today, finishes around 7 buyins up! Monday was just a blip, hopefully i can start ripping uo the mtt scene again.

June should be a fun month, iv entered two team challenges on PocketFives its only a bit of fun but it's extra motivation to win.. i can get really competitive sometimes.

My spirits are well and truly lifted :)

Im going to leave you with some sick calls from today's cash games.

Monday blow up :(

What happened?!!?!
I was finally playing my best again then boooom, i turn into a complete idiot.
It really gets to me more when i play bad/tilt too because they're avoidable and i rarely tilt..
Blah it sucks, it really sucks!
I mean Sunday was pretty brutal, but playing bad really really plays on my mind.. in general bad beats don't affect me at all.. grrrr it makes me angry thinking about yesterday..
I blew two weeks work in one night.. I even know exactly which hand it started on aswell.. and it was a nothing hand.. this is the 20rebuy 400-800 utg raises to 1800-ish.. i have 30k... he has 20kish.. i pick up JJ on the button and raise to 9k.. 9k!! wtf he instapushes and i instacall.. now i can play this hand much much better obviously, but it all went wrong from there and i continued to donk myself out of every other tournament i was in and lost some cash buyins too vudrhnuiovrdhngjl

I don't know how to explain it. I was super-confident and then played like a complete moron!
Im feeling really crappy at the moment about poker now...
I think im going to have a few days off to reflect.

Blurgh! sundays

Its sunday, well monday now and its nearly 4am here, just finished an extremely dissappointing mtt session, just had good stacks in the 750k, the 35k and the 20 rebuy and now im out of them all, yuck hate to moan about bad beats but it was pretty sick, KK v AQ for 70k pot in 35k allin on 10high board, AJ v A10 allin preflop and 1010 v Q7, i wasnt even shortstackd either players were just trying to give me their chips, blah! enough of that.

I really dont like talking about bad beats because it annoys me when others do, so im gonna shut up about it. Theres so much hope on sundays, maybe one day it will all come together in a big one.

Soooooo, besides that im feeling really really good, had a few hours heads up cash with my pez102, were sick sick human beings when we play each other lol we know each other inside out, so many sick bluffs and calls in those few hours, we ended up about even, but it put me in a really good frame of mind and i was playing really good tonight, got deep in nearly everything, lost huge flip for the chip lead in the 40k with 20 players left but oh well...
I really feel on top of my game atm.

Heres some interesting hands from today

I talked about blind vs blind situations in a previous entry and heres a good example...

Ok, i enjoy reading other players thought processes about hands they played so heres mine on this hand. Iv been at the table for about 6-7 rounds, mutigers5591 seems a little loose but i havent played a pot with him/her yet. Folded round to me in the sb with A7, pretty obvious raising hand, i raise to 950, standard.. mutigers5591 calls, could defending with a wide range here.. flop 669.. i bet 1320 into just over 2k.. called.. hmm now surely he would have raised with a 9 on the flop, 6 is unlikely.. small pocket pair?,... A high?... anyway the turn comes a 10, i slow down and check, 78 could be possible which would have just turned a straight... now he instantly bets 2100.. hmmm i think i can remove 78 and a 6 from his range now, possibly he slowplayed a 9 but i didnt think so.. 10 is pretty unlikely aswell, so were left with A or K high float or a small pocket pair.. it seemed like he was trying to look strong, so i raised small enough to not commit myself if i had run into something and read it wrong but big enough to ask a question... so i raised to 5400, s/he thinks then folds and i show coz im an ass.

Few rounds later this happens...

Same scenario folded round to the blinds, now with a bit of history.. i raise again.. he flat calls again... really good flop, i feign weakness betting around half the pot, he falls for it and shoves, possibly influenced by the bluff i showed in the last hand we played hmm...

This is an interesting hand i pick up KK in early position, no reads on the table.. not been sat long and multi-tabling, i make it 527.. snoringbeagl calls and then its folded around, so at this point i can put a rough range of 66+ AT+ maybe high suited connectors... flop comes 568, decentish flop, im probably going to have to go with it here, if hes hit a set then nice hand... i bet out 897 he flat calls, hmm 77? 88 99 1010 JJ set.. AK?... i instacheck the turn a Q trying to look weak.. as if id tried on the flop with somethin like AK now iv given up... i was planning to push if he bet but he checks behind hmm... river is another Q, pot is now 3.3k ish and i have 4.7k.. set is pretty much out the question now... and a Q would have bet the turn too... as would a floating call on the flop with overcards at this point im pretty sure he either has 77 99 1010 or JJ maybe even an underpair... im not gonna check because he will likely check a lot of hands i can beat behind.. so how much to bet... for maximum value.. i decided ther overshove disguised my hand best.. so pushed allin.. which looked v desperate.. i think he calls with a lot of the hands in his range as it doesnt look like i have anything.. he calls with 10s and i win a big pot.

Thats enough HH for now lol. Iv been playing some heads up cash too in the last few days and im getting hooked, iv won about 8 buyins over not that long of a period.. 50-1 is incedibly weak.
Tonight was disappointing but theres not a lot i could have done differently so im happy..
big things are sure to come if im not making many mistakes and playing my A game!

Over the next week going to try and put some more heads up cash hours in and play lots and lots of mtts... coz i love poker :)

Improvement, trying to be the best.

Sorry i havent posted for a few days, i will be trying to update the blog a few times every week.

Ok so lets talk poker!
Iv been working on my game a lot recently, i have been reading poker books, poker magazines, poker articles, poker forums, poker blogs, im already an accomplished player but thats not enough.. i want to be the best.

I think a big weakness in many good players, is blind vs blind situations.. these can be incredibly tricky at times especially from the small blind. I see a lot of players get it completly wrong, as i have done many times, its so easy to misjudge a situation in the blinds and blow a big proportion of your stack. Now, you could look at it to try and stay away from these b v b confrontations.. and if your not comfortable playing them, then that is probably the best strategy to just avoid them. But, for a skilled player, i think this is a time you can exploit your opponent and turn your short stack into average... or average into big stack.

In these situations, its really important to take into account how the players immediatly to your left and right are playing, are they giving up their blind easily, are they defending by calling, are they defending by re-raising. The most important players on the table are those within two places of both your left and right, because these are the players you are most likely to be playing pots with, so information on them is much more valuable than the other players at the table.

Whatever style your blind opponents have, there will be a way to take advantage and exploit them. The easiest to tangle with are the tight ones, where you will have many opportunities to win the pot, without having to have a hand, as they will not want to get involved unless they like their hand a lot, and they will let you know when they do.

Now.. if you are facing a tricky opponent.. you can be faced with tough decisions.. but these decisions can make or break your tournament. Theres a lot of ways you can approach these hyper-aggressive decent-ish players (there seems to be more and more of them these days)..
You could play extra tight and play hand against them where you are a big favourite.. or you can do battle with them and play back at them.. personally i prefer this as you cannot depend on getting a hand against them. So, limp-reraising is an option with any sort of playable hand... 8-9 suited, KJoff etc.. now you may put yourself in very marginal situations here.. but if you think you can outplay your opponent, then he/she will be making more mistakes than you, and they will be the ones losing more in the long run. In the small blind against these players, theres no point playing any trash against them.. but with anything playable i would either raise.. if i like my hand enough to 4-bet as they will be 3-betting you a large proportion of the time.. or limp, call.. then let them do the betting if you hit. As, they are decent/ok players and not great ones, they will not know when to slow down.. and you will get all of their chips.

There are many varieties of the styles i have mentioned.. with semi-aggressive blind players, and super tight players. The worst type to face is a hyper-aggressive..great player.. as they will read you much better than the decent-ish hyper aggressive players, and will know when to slow down and when to attack your weakness, if you feel like this is the case.. theres really not much you can do except try to outplay them, and if they are better, then it will be you who ends up losing in the long run.

I used to hate these situations, but now i look forward to the challenge!

Iv been playing some headsup sng's recently, as it not my strongest point.. but even playing them for a few days i can feel myself getting better.. its amazing how awful some of these players are, i also think practising heads up can hugely improve your blind vs blind play.. as you will be put into similar situations you would in an mtt.

Iv been plugging away with MTT's., but no significant scores since the second in the 15k.. i did manage a final table in the 20rebuy 12k a few days ago for $900ish.. and a double cash last night in the Big Doubles, but thats about it.. Only going to put pics up of scores 1k or bigger.

When i get knocked out after getting deep.. it always plays on my mind for a while.. even if i got really unlucky, i try to look at if i could have played a hand differently, or if theres something else i could have done..

Two months ago i made the Sunday Brawl final table and the Sunday mulligan final table in one night.. out in 9th in both... and they still play on my mind to this day... got about a combined 8k.. but first in both was over 50k...and top 6 in both was over 10k... urhg what could have been :( anyway im sure ill get another chance.. and it was good experience, im sure next time things will go better. Yuck hate thinking about it lol.

Im going to get a chinese now with sarah :)
Hope that was an interesting read

Poker Poker Poker

Been a difficult few weeks where iv been gettin deep but not closing, losing vital pots and not playing my A game anyway near as often as i should. Iv been distracted a lot lately and have had other things going on whilst iv been playing.

Guitar Hero 3 is awesome but definatly -EV lol!

However did manage to pull a decent score last night finishing second in the $10 rebuy for $2.3k.
Starting to get back to playing my best again. Must learn to focus a lot more though and try to avoid playing when i cant concentrate 110%. Anyway as for the 15k, i like this tournament iv only played it a few times and have won it final tabled it a couple of times now. I was confident and playing well things were going my way for once with two tables to go i picked up KK twice and got paid off against AQ and AK and managed to hold for two huge pots which put me up to 600k ish coming into the final table.
I was feelin good, with a lot of the final table pretty weak with the exception of PLAYER BETS and The Yid a player i respect a lot, always seems to cause me problems! Maybe i can learn something from his aggression and fearlessness. Heres an interesting blind vs blind hand, ill explain my thoughts afterwards...

Ok so this is only the second time it has been folded round to the sb when im in the bb, last time IronButter raised to 30k and i folded, my read on him prior to this hand is tricky but not great player, he likes to bluff, so he limps, i see A4 off.. A high almost certainly the best hand i raise 4x the bb to 32k.. IronButter thinks then calls... now theres a wide range he could have here so i cant really narrow it down too much. The flop comes 267 rainbow now iv missed but its a very raggedy flop, im still fairly confident i have the best hand, IronButter checks, maybe i can bet out here but it really feels like hes ready to make a move and i cant continue if he makes a big reraise on the flop, i decide to check behind, planning to pick a bluff off on the turn, Turn comes 6 spades, board now reading 7663.. IronButter best out 30k, i make a small reraise to 66,250.. he then waits and re-reraises to 102,500.. its smells fishy i think he flat calls with a 7 or 3 and surely raises bigger with a random 6.. it really felt like he was just trying to take it away, so i re-re-re-raised to 138,750 and he instant folds, ship it! :)

Now a lot of the time i tend not to show bluffs but i felt like it would intimidate some of the players at the table so i showed it and im glad i did, next few times IronButter either folded or limp folded to my bb.. i had the momentum and now some of the players were staying away from my bb it felt like they didnt want to tangle with me now!

Things were going smoothly as players got knocked out i was still chip leader 4 handed and to my dismay The Yid had doubled up and accumulated a decent stack. Then within five hands i ran QQ into The Yids KK for a huge pot then flopped two pair with 78 allin on 783 flop against PLAYER BETS KK, only for him to hit a K on the river. So from being big chip leader i was 4 of 4. Which sucked! The Yid then went onto knock out crunchysox in another huge pot AK v AJ to have over 1mil in chips with me and PLAYER BETS having 300kish each, Yid went on to knock out PLAYER BETS KK v A7 then me heads up with 66 v my A4. gg Yid wp. Ship the 2.4k!

So im feelin good at the moment im currently lookin at all possible ways i can to improve my game, and ways i can exploit my ever more 3betting opponents. Im thinking of mixing in some hours at the cash tables to help reduce the swings MTT's can bring..

Thanks for reading, gl at the tables!
