Crazy Week with Strippers, £15k in cash, hardly any sleep (oh and GUKPT Brighton report)

Finally drove back to Manchester last night after probably one of the most eventful and random weeks of my whole life. It does feel good to be home but i had a hell of a lot of fun and id do it all again in a second! Last post i mentioned Perrins had made day two of the £200 side event, obv he ships it for around £7k after getting a pretty good chop 5 handed, played really well, ean quite well but definatly deserves this after running wayyyyyyy below expection in 2008.

So this was a sick start to the week and we go to the cashier and get 7k in cash and a bottle of £200 champagne, the hotel is not far enough to get a taxi so we end up having to walk through Brighton with 7k in cash in our pockets...lol fun! Back at the hotel, me Sarah and Matt start celebrating and its a Tuesday night so theres not much going on, so after some champagne and shots we ask the taxi driver where we can go, he says theres the PussyCat Club 5mins away, lol so what the hell Sarah doesnt mind infact she likes the idea... happy days :) £3000 later (I KNOW WTFFFFFF) and a lot of champagne, sambuca and lapdances for all we crash back at the hotel to prepare for the Main Event the next day.

Ok so on to poker, me and Matt both play day 1A and the field is terrible besides some really good internet players about its mainly live donks, play started at 2pm and i don't really get involved in any big pots for the first few hours, but manage to chip up a little, isolating the bad limpers and some late raises, then i double up Ian Frasier with JJ vs AKss he flops a flush so im basically dead on the flop and down to 7k. The play continues to be shocking and i manage to get back up to 13k with no showdowns over the next few levels. Its now about 11pm and theres 2 levels left till play stops and i stilll have around 11k its sucks to say this but i literally did go card dead and moved to a not much but slightly tougher table. Blinds now 400/800/50 and i pick up AJss in the hijack with 9k and get it in and run into AK and it holds, sigh.

I go see how Matts doin and obv hes crushing again with top 5 in chips lol and he cruises into day2. We end up staying out all night partying and get about 2 hours sleep. He goes on to make the Final Table after playing really well again in Day2 i don't know how either, i was completely fucked that day and he must have been too. We had to change hotels during this too because we had to stay an extra day and it was fully booked. All of us were tired and pissed off so it was not fun trying to sort another hotel at 10am when its windy as fuck and the Final Table was later that day.

Me and Sarah go to watch and i have 30% again so obv im very interested lol with 1st 70k plus change. Matt goes into the Final Table 5/9 and gets a really shit seat with the big stacks to his left and the short/medium ones to his right. I get interviewed by nutz.tv too during the final table which was pretty cool, i thought it went quite well even though i was little nervous. Anyway he doesnt play a hand for the first level and has blinded down to 170k at 6k/12k/1k. Then is his KO hand which we have gone though a lot and here is the hand and my thoughts on it...

Matt ~ 170k

Villain ~ 600k

Blinds ~ 6k/12k/1k

8 handed with average chips of around 260k

folds around to Matt with 66 on the cutoff, he makes it 30k to go, villain chipleader at the time 3bets to 60k..

villain has been fairly loose and not that great, later goes on to showdown k3off and k4off defending his bb

Matt has quite an aggressive image

So my thoughts are that open shoving is probably the best line with 14bb in this spot, as played i don't think he can fold, calling obv not an option but i really hate raise folding here with 14bb. villain is the chipleader and could easily be 3betting a wide range, also with the prizepool being quite top heavy i get it in playing for the win. But i do still think its a really close spot with it being live and the players so much tighter than online, hand values do go way down when playing live imo. For example, you raise the button with AJss and an 16bb stack reshoves, online its a snapppppppp your arm off call, but against some players live its an instafold.

So back to the hand Matt does get it in and runs into KK vnfjhvnmgkv, still a good win of £7k again but i can see why hes really dissapointed as i would be too. I suppose anything but 1st is always going to be dissapointing.

This post has just turned into an essay so im gonna go to the gym i think. All in all it has been an awesome week, we did end up well up but spent a stupid amount on shopping and nice restaurants and obv strippers lol... will be playing online a bunch in the next few weeks and ill do some more updates when i can.
